Although spiders are often unpopular, the venom of most species is not quite toxic to human beings, usually resulting in no more than a slight swelling, inflammation, or itching sensation. Most spiders’ fangs are too small or weak to puncture human skin. The wasp stings the spider, temporarily paralysing it so that it can lay an egg in the spider’s abdomen. The egg hatches and the larva sucks the blood out of the spider. The wasp larva then forces the spider to build it a cocoon out of silk. When the spider is done the wasp larva kills the spider and moves into the cocoon.
